This is Andy's insanely mean 1968 Dodge Dart. It is powered by an all-aluminum 557-in Ray Barton Hemi with 11:1 compression and runs on premium pump gas. The combination is good for about 790 horses and 740 torque. Andy wants to install an intercooled Procharger next, along with electronic fuel injection. The power is put down through a 4-speed Lenco transmission and a Dana 60 rearend with 3.54s (and 30" tall tires). A parachute and wheelie bars are necessary. Andy is thinking 9s on motor, and high 8s on the juice -- even faster after adding a blower. Except for the hood, this is an all steel car that will weigh over 3200-lb with a driver. The 557 Hemi powered '68 Dart has finally been fired up and driven. At the track, the Dart ran 10.26 @ 132 mph on just the motor, and the first time out with no tuning (not even with a timing light). Turns out the 10.26 run was with the wrong clutch, too! This Dart has some serious potential for the future!
