Help ID this (maybe) Industrial

Post by scottm »

I received this photo and this ID: NE552283

That ID means 1955 Chrysler FirePower 331.
Why might it have the Industrial valve covers?
Can anyone ID the engine from this picture?
(And help verify if it is (or not) an Industrial.)

This is not the first 55 331 I have seen that was used as an industrial. Doing what research I have, it seems alot of car engines were used in industrial applications. I would dare bet that the engine in the picture also has a hyd cam, putting the myth of "all industrials are solid lifter engines" to rest.

I bought a non-industrial 331 here a while back that had "industrial" valve covers because the previous owner didn't want to use his Firepower covers for whatever reason.... :-?
