Anyone knowing the videographer and his channel will easily foresee where he's at. As per tradition, he came to record a ton of action at the Texas Motorplex just outside Dallas because the Super Bowl of street car racing, TX2K25, took place between March 11 and 16. That's when some of the greatest racers and their rides came together to celebrate the traditional 'need for speed' in a safe and fun environment, of course.
While he and his friends were out filming, as an appetizer, they gave us a story from last year's TX2K24 event. More precisely, a premium battle between a Bavarian sedan and an American coupe, an orange G80 BMW M3 sedan – most likely a CS version, duked it with a second-generation Cadillac CTS, most likely a 2015 V-Series Coupe, modified to look like a rascal.
Despite the short race, it had everything – adrenaline, drama, and even a photo finish! So, it's always hard to follow a cool act, and that BMW versus Caddy race was a 10.6s heartstopper. No worries, their first video from TX2K25 at Texas Motorplex easily tops that with an eight-second race! So, let's see what happened there.
The focus of the very short video – it's just 38 seconds long, so you can literally watch it anywhere and at any time – is on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk equipped with the mighty Hemi V8 (6.2-liter supercharged) borrowed from the Hellcat passenger cars. It doesn't show off too much, but it's obviously tuned and stripped away of unnecessary elements.
Its adversary is a mighty L-bodied Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat dressed in crimson and black and riddled with decals to show that it's modified, too. Well, the two beasts took off almost at the same time (.557 and .598 reaction times!), and from the angle of the shoot, it was night impossible to say which driver won the skirmish.
Luckily, the electronic scoreboard provided the fitting answer: 8.264s at almost 170 mph for the winner and 8.529s at nearly 162 mph for the loser. Some would say it was close but not close enough, but it's more important to note that, according to the description, the victor – the mighty Jeep Trackhawk – is now in possession of the world record for both the quickest and fastest AWD Hemi platform across the quarter mile. That's cool, right?
Too bad they don't make them like they used to – the Jeep Grand Cherokee is now available with the 3.6-liter V6 or as a 4xe plug-in hybrid model, while the eighth-generation Dodge Charger is momentarily offered solely as a Daytona model with all-electric powertrains and up to 670 horsepower.
That's a seriously quick and fast SUV! I miss having TX2K in Houston. RIP Houston Raceway Park.
