I am looking at a couple of chrysler marine Hemi engines with the trannys attached . The owner has no idea of the year or displacement. any help would be greatly appreciated!! Here is what i have so far.....
Model # 45 p0404
Serial # 61370
And are they really worth anything... Assuming they are in good running condition? cosmetically they look pretty good.

i did not see an S after the numbers only a P. And as far as the casting number do i have to remove the valley pan? Just not seein it in that location or reversed since it is marine in the other location. Thanks Mark

Hey George, Chrysler labled the cylinders on the marine engines from the rear, firing orders are the same if you renumber the cylinder numbers from the front.
They also offered the 2X4 331 but don't think they ever sold any. Every 331 I have ever seen was light greenish color. So anytime you see 2X4 it is a 354 and Royal blue in color, they also had a real goofy single 4 bbl manifold with a big wedge spacer on 354 M45SP, also Royal blue, mostly in the "Imperial" engine series delivered to Canada.
The "Big Purple" engine was the 354 2X4 SP3. Everyone of those had real good A1 blocks.
There were tons of the 354 engines in tugs and crusiers both 331 and 354s. All had transmissions with a ratio that turned the props more then the engine speed to turn big props.
Those transmissions have never been able to be converted to 1:1 because of the nature and strength of the rear plate, that needs replacing to do it, without having the parts from a spare 1:1.
Next time you are in the neighborhood stop by and take a look at the tub, it is just about finished. You can have all the 392 alum bels and spacers from the piles if you want them also. There are 3-4 of them just laying around.

WEll. i took some pictures of the id plate, which apparently the marine engines have and it was identifed by what i feel is a competent hemi enthusiest. he said his books show them as 354's .Thanks for the insight. We are possibly going to ebay them,,, do you think they would bring any serious interest, say over $1,000 each?If not we are going to let them sit. thanks Mark.

I have a 1962 Century Resorter with the 331 Crusader Hemi in it. It has a 4 barrel Holley and has been converted to an alternator. It also has awesome aluminum Edelbrock manifolds on it. Boat is For Sale if anyone is interested.
