What intake manifold do you have? The marine hemis
came in 3 flavors - two 1-bbls, one 4-bbl and two 4-bbls.
The two 1-bbl. setup used Ball & Ball 1 bbl carbs similar
to those used on slant-6s. The single and dual 4-bbl
engines used Carter WCFBs that flowed about 350 cfm
each. If you have the two 1-bbl intake, I'd probably swap
it for a single 4-bbl intake although you could probably, with
a bit of work, get a pair of early slant 6 carbs to work on it.
For a single four or dual quad intake you could use 500 cfm
Carter AFBs or the equivelent Eldelbrock knockoffs. On a
a single 4-bbl intake, an adaptor plate and a 390 cfm Holley
(list number 0-8007) or a 550, 570 or 600 cfm Holley
(List numbers 1849-1, 0-80570 and 1850-5) would be
reasonable choices too. No mattter what carb (or carbs)
you adapt to this engine, with anything non-stock,
you're going to have to play around with the jetting and
modify or fabricate throttle linkage and choke set-up.

You might be able to find a pair of rebuildable OEM marine
engine 1-bbls from someone here on this list or on ebay.
They show up on ebay fairly frequently because guys that
are converting Marine Hemis to automotive use don't
usually have any use for them.

Do you know if the engines used the same cam for the 2-1 bbl and the 2-4 bbl intakes?

typically the OEM cam is replaced by a 354 or a reground cam for a fresh start.
