1968 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA FACTORY HEMI BO29 RACE CAR
https://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/d/lebano ... 06171.html
Before rising to national prominence in 1970 with his first Pro Stock race team, Rich Thomas most notably competed in this 1968 Plymouth Barracuda BO29 Hemi racer, one of 70 built by the factory for Super Stock competition. VIN: BO29M8B390660 ...Prepared for NHRA's SS/AA (Super Stock “A” Automatic) class, it has all the elements that have made these cars perennially dominant. The first step is saving weight, a task accomplished by the use of fiberglass front fenders and special scooped hood, lightweight steel doors and front bumper and Lexan side windows with seat belt hold up straps replacing the winding mechanisms. The car's M-code VIN denotes its 426 CI race Hemi engine complete with dual Holley 4-barrels on a cross ram intake manifold, tube headers, Accel ignition and electric cooling fan, here mated to a Hurst-shifted heavy duty Torqueflite 3-speed automatic w/special stall converter and an Dana 60 rear end with heavy duty axles, super-duty shocks, multilink suspension. Phoenix F/X drag slicks handle the Hemi's thunderous output, with aluminum wheels all around and Goodyear Eagle drag tires up front.

Full competition prep is also evident in the full roll cage, lightweight bucket seats, Auto Meter gauges and Pro Comp tach, dual 16-volt batteries with electric shutoff, trunk mounted fuel cell, electric fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.

Totally restored by renowned MOPAR gurus restorer Hodge Restorations near Inman, S.C. The car received a complete rebuild from the basic body shell on out to a as delivered factory race car. Finished in sinister-looking Black with a Black interior, this BO29 factory Hemi racer remains as desirable as ever.

In 2008, the car was subject to a complete and through inspection by Mopar guru Galen Govier. A very detailed report is available and is included in the sale of this vehicle. The race car is listed in the Galen Registry and has been issued #51 of the 68 VIN sequence of all 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Superstock built at the Hamtrack Mi. plant. A true and real deal race car from the factory. Sold on a Bill of Sale only. Please call Larry or Eric show contact info to set up a private appointment. Buyers or their representative are invited to come evaluate this car in person. Please note: If you can view this ad, vehicle is available.
