Machining Hemi lifter bores (New Block)

Post by fourspd426 »

Hello! I have recently aquired a new Hemi block that does not have the lifter bores machined. I have a few questions.

What sort of expertise is needed to do this machine work?

Is this specifically something that should be left to a "Hemi expert"?

I am currently looking at having Ray Barton do this work but maybe I can find someone a little closer to me (I live in southeastern Virginia).

Has anyone ever used Mopar Mecca (Richardson Auto Machine) in Lynchburg, VA?

What are my options? Thanks!!

Get LMS in MI to do it, they have plenty of exiprence. (experience)
Call Jesel and ask who in your area does their lifter sleeving.
Call BHJ and ask who has their bore thru equiptment (equipment) in your area.
Ask the machine shop for references.

These should get you rolling.

Thanks! I ended up taking the block along with my heads and rocker arms to Ray Barton's shop today. I decided to go with a 472" stroker. I'll have them check out my heads and rocker arms just to make sure everything is up to snuff.

Thanks again!
