Win a 1,000+HP Supercharged 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody! Oh, and Don Garlits Drove It and Signed the Dashboard

Wow, what an assignment this was! Fly to Florida and meet up with the folks at Dream Giveaway to check out and photograph this really cool 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody before one lucky person wins it. Oh, and did we mention this particular car cranks out around 1,000 horses with its Magnuson supercharger? Stock is 797 horses. Then the following day we are to meet Don Garlits at his museum in Ocala, Florida. And better yet, that night we'd get to ride down the Gainesville Raceway (home of the Gatornationals) dragstrip shotgun, while Mr. Garlits makes a low-10-second pass at about 130 mph in the Dream Giveaway Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody. Our response was, "Um, OK, we'll go!"

For those who may be unfamiliar with the program, Dream Giveaway, a marketing company providing funding to seven charities each year, has been running nationwide sweepstakes for charity since 2007, and originated the idea, "We pay the taxes." If you're over 18, sweepstakes tickets start at just $3. So since it only takes one ticket to win, someone could possibly win this Hellcat Redeye Widebody for just $3! But obviously the more tickets that are purchased, the better your odds (and the better for charity).

And as a HOT ROD reader, Dream Giveaway doubles your tickets to win this 1,000hp Hellcat Extreme Redeye when you use this link: http://bit.ly/winthehellcat.

After landing in Tampa from Los Angeles, we headed over to meet the folks at Dream Giveaway in Clearwater, Florida, and checked out the Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody in person. In the rear quarters of the office, we found a showroom-like setting with a host of other Dream Giveaway muscle cars parked along with the Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody, such cars as an original 1970 Chevelle SS454, a 1969 Mach I Mustang with its 428 Super Cobra Jet engine, and a 2019 Jeep Rubicon, to name but a few. For our Mopar fans, they even have up for grabs a 1970 AAR 'Cuda paired with a custom Power Wagon.

Even among this field of muscle car legacy, the 2019 Challenger stood out for a host of reasons. The energy found within this Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody begins where the air goes in with its Magnuson superchargerequipped 6.2 Hemi, which now produces nearly 1,000 hp. And this 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody has a top speed of 203 mph. Yikes! The car is noted to easily run low-10s and sometimes in the 9-second e.t. range with its current performance parts. Plus this, car weighs in at around 4,900 pounds without a driver. We tried telling one of our Bow Tie friends all of this when we got back to the MotorTrend office in Los Angeles, and the reply was that this car must weigh less than 3,000 pounds and must be unstreetable otherwise. We just replied with the facts.

But back to reality. Why this streetable 10-second car shatters misconceptions is partially because it features the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic, which includes a beefy 230mm rear axle and a 2.62 axle ratio. Yes, that's right, and this allows the Challenger to run down the highway at low rpm effortlessly over 70 mph. Inside, the driver features include a Hurst shifter, and a steering-wheel-mounted shift control so the driver can watch the terrain pass by at big triple-digit speeds like a jet leaving the runway. And the Widebody includes electronic power steering with selectable steering tuning that allows you to set your steering responsiveness and experience.

This Challenger also featured the Plus Package which includes Dark Engine-Turn interior accents and leather trimmed seats.

Our photo shoot took the better part of the first day, and the Challenger provided lots of opportunity to get great shots. There's also a video on the Mopar Muscle Facebook page, with a walk-around at Dream Giveaway's studio to show the features of the Challenger.

Besides the interior's rich leather and hues, we also found something pretty cool on this Dream Giveaway Challenger. It was Don Garlits' signature on the dashboard and the words "Big Daddy, Don Garlits, Sit Down! Buckle Up! and Shut Up!" forever identifying this car as a special Challenger. Just be careful if you win this ride as to who you let ride shotgun, LOL.

When we made it to Gainesville Raceway in Florida the following afternoon, we were a little concerned that the weather would not hold up. The skies were dark and threatening, but fortunately, significant rain never fell. The crew from Dream Giveaway brought the 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody out, and we again met up with Don Garlits.

After settling in at the track, this author got the ride of his life when Garlits said from behind the wheel of the Challenger, "OK, are you ready?" I quickly got in with my helmet on, and strapped on the seatbelt. Garlits staged the Challenger. With the car on slicks, it was extremely noticeable that this car was ready to hook and leave hard. And as predicted, as the lights came down this Challenger hooked and left so hard that it seemed like we were hit from behind by a moving city bus. Garlits perfectly drove the Hellcat down the track like an experienced pianist plays a piano. The 1,320-foot distance passed in just moments. Our e.t. on the first pass with the car was 10.30 at 129 mph, then Garlits followed up on a subsequent run at 10.13 at 131 mph.

Besides the impressive performance capability, this Challenger is also well equipped to handle. These rear-wheel-drive Challengers feature a nearly 50-50 weight distribution that helps improve fore and aft balancing through turns. The Widebody package on this car included 20x11 forged Devil's Rim aluminum wheels that are wrapped with 305/35ZR20 Pirelli all-season tires. On this run, we had Hoosier prototype slicks.

Inside the Challenger is fitted with leather hues called White Knuckle/Demonic Red.

But one of the best parts of the sweepstakes is that the lucky winner will receive a private meet-and-greet from Don Garlits. Hurry up! Tickets are going as fast as a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody with a Magnuson supercharger!
