Florida Man Names His Own Street ... and What Does He Choose?

If you could name your street, what would you name it?

That's the opportunity Jeff Crane had about 10 years ago when the Nassau County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office contacted him and said it was changing the rural route numbers to actual street addresses to, in part, make it easier for 9-1-1 calls to locate emergencies. Since the end of the driveway of Jeff's Hilliard, Fla., home is more than 300 feet from his home, he had the chance to name his street.

Rather than being assigned a name by the office -- which would've had something to do with mountain ranges -- he decided, since it's his street, he'd name it Crane Drive.

Well, that was taken.

So the next best thing? Mopar Drive. Fortunately, his wife, Dawn Marie, agreed, and "the people who know me were not surprised," Jeff said.

When Jeff told the lady at the Sheriff's Office his second choice for his street name, she asked if he was a NASCAR fan. Due to some differences between NASCAR and Chrysler's HEMI engine in the 1970s, Jeff said he told the lady, he's not a NASCAR fan.

"I don't like NASCAR," he told us, "but I love Mopar."

Mopar Man

While his dad is a "Chevy man," Jeff has been a Mopar man most of his life. In fact, he and a classmate won a 1973 Florida championship in the Plymouth TroubleShooting competition. It's a compettion for high school auto mechanic students, which earned Jeff and his teammate a trip to the finals in Boston, as well as a trophy, jacket and other awards.

Except for a couple ventures with non-Mopar vehicles, Jeff has driven Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep and other Chrysler Group brands his entire life. Currently, he drives a 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD -- one of the few sold in the U.S. -- while his wife drives a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, with 237,000+ miles.

While his two daughters didn't marry into a Mopar family, one son, Axel, followed his dad's lead and drives a 2008 Dodge Ram, while his daughter-in-law, Shelly, gets behind the wheel of a new Dodge Durango with the Pentastar V-6 engine. Jeff's other son doesn't drive.
Cool street name!
