Sounds like funSometimes there’s no better way to get the customer talking about your brand than going right to them. Like the vacuum salesmen of yore, and the Cutco cutlery salesmen and women of today, Chrysler’s new SRT division will be bringing its four new vehicles door-to-door this summer for the SRT High Performance Tour. While this tour isn’t expressly meant to sell cars, one might expect a high-horsepower foursome of Chryslers, Jeeps and Dodges to drum up a bit of sales; especially on a three month long tour, featuring both scheduled SRT stops and stops at local grassroots clubs and organizations.
Like last year’s Hemi Highway event, in which a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 and 2011 Charger R/T cruised around the US, stopping at different events to show off Dodge’s SRT-branded vehicles, this year’s SRT High Performance Tour will do much of the same thing. This year however, Chrysler’s SRT contribution has doubled—this year’s SRT High Performance Tour will feature a 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8, a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, a 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 and a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, which will also be towing an SRT-branded trailer, no doubt full of spare tires for the group which puts out a combined 1865 horsepower and 1865 lb-ft of torque through 32 cylinders.
While the SRT High Performance Tour is set to start at Chrysler’s Auburn Hills, Mich. headquarters next month, and end at November’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, what happens in between is left up to you. Chrysler has left roughly 50 percent of its itinerary open, to be dedicated to grass roots club events, like car meets, race days, charity events and auto shows. Those interested in having some Mopar muscle swing by just need to fill out a short form with a 100 words, explaining why the SRT High Performance Tour should come to you. The other half of the SRT High Performance Tour’s stops will be a mix of static displays and a mix or ride-alongs and drives.
