oh2o and another source noted the impending arrival of the 2011 Ram Outdoorsman pickup. Following in the path of the old Dodge D-series pickups and B-vans, which could be outfitted to the needs of various occupations, the Ram Outdoorsman was set up for the avid fisherman, hunter, or camper; 62% of large pickup owners fish, hunt, or camp.

Standard features on the new Ram include a standard tow package (with special cooling, four and seven pin connectors, and a class IV hitch); standard premium cloth seats for comfort; and a satellite radio with leather steering wheel and on-wheel audio controls.

Mud/slush mats take the place of the usual carpeted mats. The exterior is two-tone, with a gray lower body; tires have on/off road tread, and there are skid plates on the 4×4 with a large 32-gallon fuel tank for extended range. The Outdoorsman trucks will include quad headlamps, fog lights, heated power mirrors with courtesy lights, and an underhood light.

Various options and accessories can help customers customize their trucks.

The Outdoorsman is to be promoted in TV, print, and Internet advertising directed at the core audience, and will be displayed at sportsman shows. The package will be available on 4×4 and rear-drive trucks, in regular, quad, and crew cabs; it is based on (and requires) the SLT with the 24T or 26T package (4.7 and Hemi V8).

Additional standard equipment includes an anti-spin differential, console and floor shift, 10-way power driver seat, AC outlet, overhead console with garage-door opener, interior light package, auto-dim rear view mirror, remote start, security alarm, and rear 60/40 seat.

New colors for 2011 are “Deep Cherry Red Pearl Coat” and the Outdoorsman-appropriate Hunter Green.
