Yeah It’s Got a Hemi, No It’s Not a Dodge

The Mini’s real name however is Maxe, and it was not created by Dr. Frankenstein but rather Larry Audette of Westford, Vermont. Amazingly Larry was able to stuff a 392 twin plug Hemi into the front of this puny machine, and then had enough cojones to strap a blower to it.

Larry is a good friend of mine, and has been working on this for a couple years. If you go to his site http://www.thecrankshopvt.com you can see pictures of the build, as well as some of his other hemi powered vehicles. Anyone in the snowmobile racing world knows of The Crank Shop.

The car has a full tube chassis with air ride suspension. Not to mention the full video and audio system in the rear.

It's on show at SEMA 2011. Here's a fresh article.

SEMA 2011: MINI Cooper S with 6.4 Liter HEMI Engine
http://www.gtspirit.com/2011/11/05/sema ... mi-engine/
This yellow MINI Cooper S was displayed at the SEMA 2011 show in Las Vegas. The little car was fitted with a 6.4 liter Hemi engine producing up to 650hp and 630lb-ft of torque.

The engine has a BDS blower with 5lbs of boost, fast electronic fuel injection, crank shop intake manifold, crank shop HEMI value covers and is linked to a four-speed automatic transmission.

The body was changed by the specialists at Rotunda’s Auto Body. The suspension setup received a shock wave air ride suspension. The wheels are a combination between chrome Spectrum wheels 17×7 in front and 17×15 at the rear, and Michelin Sport tires 225-45-17 and 235-35-17 at the back.

This “MAXI Cooper” is one of the most special MINIs we ever saw, and maybe it is even one of the fastest we have ever come across. We would love to see it in a drag race.
