The High & The Mighty

Post by Dr. Mopar »

A 1949 Plymouth Business Coupe was modified by the Ram Chargers in the mid to late fifties. This car was distinct as have equal length tube headers exits above the front wheels and trumpeting back towards the door and mirror. The car also had an extremely tall high rise intake with the collector actually mounted above the roof line. Hense the name The High and The Mighty after the John Wayne Film in 1954. This car went on to win the 1959 Nhra Nationals. I was wondering if any of you guys had pictures or information on this car. I am currently in the process with my father of wanting to do a replica of this famous car for this years street rod nationals. Any help, pictures, or links to info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

A few years ago either hot rod or rod and custom did an article on the ramchargers which included a picture of the car you are talking about. If I come across the magazine i will certainly let you know.
