I had some very close contact with that car ( 65 AFX ) but not with Bill. When Bill sold that car ( to build his new Cuda ) my friend Ben Cardillo from Fairlawn NJ along with Jules Gogolin which they campained for years. I can recal a day when we beat Doc Burgess and Bud Faubel at Island Dragway. I turned a wrench and drove the chase car. Check out the pics of Ben and Jules at the start line at E-Town NJ.

HemiGuy, Thanks for the reply. Are you saying Cardillo and Gogolin ran the car as Special Formula? Also do you have info on how to reach Ben and Jules? Also how can you be reached by phone. Thans Tom :D

Sorry to say but Jules passed about 2 years ago and Ben retired and I lost touch but I know that the last time I heard of the car it was in Arozona being restored. I remember reading about it in one of my mags. I will try to find the article and send it to you but this may take a little time as I have about 1500 Mags maybe we will get lucky.

Dominick, The only person I cant reach is Cardillo. I have talked with all the other owners and have collected some great docs. I now own the Yankee Peddler and am putting it thru a well deserved resto, should be ready April timeframe. If you find any pics or info please send them along. I think I have the magazine you talked about. Thanks Tom

At least up until a couple of weeks ago, the car was sitting in the shop of close friend Bob George, a Hemi builder near Pittsburgh. Bob has gone through the engine, as the car now belongs to a collector who resides near Pittsburgh airport.

The car is immaculate, and looking at it is like looking at a time machine. There is some talk of Bob's son, Curt, driving it several times at Nostalgia events near Pittsburgh, but I don't know if that will really happen. Curt drives Bob's 65 Plymouth, though, and has plent of experience so the car will be in good hands.

Up until a couple of years back, the car belonged to a collector in Ohio. I have photos of it on display at the Nostalgia Nationals in Quaker City in 1995, as they were pitted next to me. We spoke of the history, as I remember the car well during its heyday, but these guys were not really interested in running it, they displayed it.

It is really a neat piece, and if you have the opportunity to check it out, I would advise you do do so.

Tom,
I have several photos of that car taken in its heyday, along with several photos taken at the SuperCar Showdown in 1995. Let me know if you would like some copies.
