426 hemi with viper six speed?

Post by Liu Kang »

I was talking to someone if this would be possible and he said that its been done and that it bolts right up, is this true? I want to put a 93 viper six speed on a new built 236 hemi and drop it in my challenger, will this bolt right up? any work required to put in a Challenger? Has this been done before?

I'm going to assume that, for one thing, the Viper 6-speed probably
is going to come through the floorboard in a different location than
the factory auto or 4-speed. I wonder if the tunnel is large enough?

has this been done before? I think the six speed might be bigger so some modification might be required... anyone know?

Hi,

Not sure if this will cover all your questions, but it's a good start !

Follow the link through to a page from Car Craft Magazine. It's a little generic, but there's some good stuff in there.

Since I posted the last bit, I've found these two links. It's not quite what you were after - 5 speed instead of 6 - but it should be of interest.

Check this out, guys...

T56 6-Speed Manual Transmission for 5.7 / 6.1 HEMI
http://www.xvmotorsports.com/news/news_ ... 1.cfm?id=7
XV Motorsports is developing a 6-speed manual transmission kit for the 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI engine platform. We have already developed a bellhousing to mate the transmission to these motors and will be developing complete installation kits for Classic B and E body Mopars.
While it's not a 426 HEMI setup, it'd be interesting to see if they come
out with the kit and see what's required to get the 6-sp into the tunnel.

Well, by the time that comes out, it'll be too late, you know Chrysler is going to put the six speed viper tranny to the hemi in the Challenger for 09 models right? But again thats the new hemi, not the 426...

Whilst leafing through the pages of September '08's Hot Rod magazine, there's an ad for six-speed transmissions by a company called Rockland Standard Gear Inc.

Named "Tranzilla", the six-speed is available for a range of engines, and they stock a range of ratios, with a capacity of 1200 HP., and 1000 lb/ft., of torque.
