Wiring through firewall

Hello,
Would someone be so kind as to enlighten me on the number of wires as well as wire size (2-10ga, 40-18ga etc) going through their firewall for ECM and how they are routing them?
I'm replacing my complete harness and trying to plan ahead for firewall sealed junction(s).
I'm going to use one of these for the general car wiring.

Perhaps one or two more would be enough for the engine ECM and/or trans controller?
I understand that there are a number of ways to install this engine so please include a brief description of your project. If you are running an electronic automatic transmission (545RFE, 4L60e etc) please include some info for that too.
