5.7 & 6.1 Block differences & other misc

Post by V10nacuda »

Condemplating puting a 6.1 in the cuda & have a few questions:
1) 5.7 & 6.1 Block......Same dimensions on the exterior??? (if we mock the car up with a 5.7 block will the 6.1 drop in.)
2) Will the accessories from the front interchange?
3) Pistons of the 6.1 Forged or hypereutectic
4) Crank 5.7 Forged>
5) Crank 6.1 Forged

Thanks

1. Yes, same external dimensions
2. Yes, I have a 6.1 with the front cover and accessories from the 5.7
3. 5.7 & 6.1 have cheap hypereutectic pistons(I would get forged ones)
4. 5.7 crank is cast
5. 6.1 crank is forged(both same dimensions)

I would love to see a n/a high cr 6.1 in a Cuda.

Thanks for the reply!!!
The shop that will be doing it has done alot of QUALITY turbo street mustangs. They have had a stock motored street weight (turbo charged) 05gt go 10.20's in stick shift form, & those have a cast crank & pistons I believe. I just hope MA MOPAR's parts & engineering are up to the task. I have read that some guys dont like the rod & piston geometry or cylinderwall thickness. But what the heck DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!
