Please help decode my 330 Desoto

Post by heidenreich »

Hi all, wondering if someone can help decode our Desoto Hemi. The block is casting number 1636629 which I have found to be a 1956 Desoto 330. The casting number on this block is on the back side of the block behind the transmission. From what I've read on casting number locations, this is not the spot where they are usually found. Is this correct? And how do we tell if it is a "firedome" or a "fireflite"?? Thanks for the help. Jeff

Casting # is where it belongs. As fars as 2 or 4 bl, there should be a use code on the flat in front of the valley cover.
