426 Hemi no casting or VIN numbers

Post by duane426 »

Have a Hemi block which was purchased in 1972 from Chrysler Performance parts Service in Warren Michigan. Receipt for block shows part number 3690010 and receipt approved by B.L. Schram. The only numbers I could locate on the block are WT stamped on the pad. The person who purchased this block worked in Chrysler's Dyno Shop. I was told this block was a left over from the Chrysler racing program, thus the reason for no casting numbers. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

426 Hemi Blocks were cast up to around 1974. Most of the later blocks had high nickle content. All you had to do was walk into you local Chrysler Dealership and order up a block. The last bunch of Short Block hemis I saw come out of Chrysler were for sale at Mancini Racing in Detoit in 1978.
