Re: New to early HEMI's...

Gary, The best thing you can do for starters, is get yourself the Hemi book from Tex Smith - the following link is through to Amazon and the book. http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Chrysler-Hemi-Engine-Manual/dp/1878772015/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231522125&sr=1-2 Also try Hot Heads ...

Re: 05 5.7 Swap in 73 charger (power steering questions)

If anyone is interested, there's a feature on steering pumps in the January 2009 issue if Car Craft Magazine.

The article's based around the steering box's used by GM, such as Saginaw, but the information included there-in is good, along with the contacts.

Re: 331 "W" Block limits

I was just wondering, in keeping with the replacement block theory, do you think the "W" could stand for "Warranty" ? Although, having suggested that, I can't see why there would be a separate block for warranty purposes ? Surely the block would be pulled from the production line...

Hope you all get this before you jump in at the deep end ! I got a reply from Street & Performance on the Hemi steering pump question. This is taken straight from their e-mail reply: " When doing that swap use a GM pump which is 950PSI. Hemi pumps put out 1350PSI which is to much PSI. The 5...

Re: 05 5.7 Swap in 73 charger (power steering questions)

Thanks for the update on S & P and their pump solutions. There is another 'site that I'd say give them a call, or e-mail: Firm Feel Inc. If you haven't heard of them, they deal in Mopar high performance steering for Mopars, along with suspension up-grades. The link is to their 'site. Contact the...

Hi,

Just sent an e-mail to Street & Performance (Mena, Arizona) to see if they know anything about this type of problem. If they get back to me, I'll post the results on this 'site for all.

A real shame that another Hemi "bites the dust". Word has it on another 'site, that Terry is recovering OK, but the crash was nothing to do with Terry or his car: The show was running late at the track and the track staff were pushing the cars through quickly - the second pair of cars burn...

The only way you're really going to know is to get it sonic checked. There was two "Dream Hemi's" I forgot: It'd be a '56 Ford F100, lowered stock style suspension - it's a truck ! C'mon ! - with 17-18" ARE 200S's and either a first generation Hemi - a 354 or 392 - or a third generation Hemi - a later 5.7L or a 6.1/6.4L. Maybe the latter with a 6/71 bl...

Detail-wise, I'll take a leaf from your book, Scott, and have the block worked over, with all those fasteners d...

If you're not bothered too much about cost, or don't already have a set of the cast iron (CI) heads, go with a fully ported set of Hot Heads aluminum Hemi heads - not cheap, but worth the extra cost in terms of port flow, and you can raise the static compression ratio over the "CI" heads. ...
