Re: WONDER WHY NHRA HAS QUIT SHOWING ENTRIES TO THE EVENTS
BlueDjinn > "You have to navigate differently on the NHRA site now to get that info." Some of us old dummies need to know the starting link for the "NHRA site". http://www.nhra.com/nhraontv/default.aspx In the red bar at the top of the page click on POINTS. When the page changes...

Re: WONDER WHY NHRA HAS QUIT SHOWING ENTRIES TO THE EVENTS
You have to navigate differently on the NHRA site now to get that info. Go to the red bar at the top of the page where it says NHRA 101 and then POINTS right beside it. Go into POINTS and then click Mello Yello 2015. It will take you the Driver's list of who's running what. Presently the only Ford s...

Re: JOHN FORCE QUOTE
You mean like when someone has an idea and suddenly it's a FORD idea (like intermittant wipers for example), or when someone paints a Chrysler style HEMI, blue, and calls it a FORD? It really does get tiring listening to a "certain" short winded, hypocritical, jaw-jacking oaf blather on, d...

HEMI and INDY Collector's Edition DRAG RACER
The September 2014 DRAG RACER magazine has an historical article covering the HEMI from 1951 to present day. Actually a pretty good read; it brought me up to speed on a couple of things that I was vague on. $6.99. On display until September 23/14. Four chapters from pages 24 to 48.

I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, but if it were mine and I really wanted to know, I'd pull the differential cover exposing the gear set. Count the number of teeth on the pinion gear, count the number of teeth on the ring (crown) gear and do the math. Divide the ring teeth by the pinio...

"BUILT FORD TOUGH", huh? Here's one guy's idea of Ford Tough: Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 73,320 Escape compact sport-utility vehicles and 15,833 Fusion midsize sedans from the 2013 model year because of reported overheating problems that could cause engine fires. Steve wrote: "...

HEMI is a registered trademark of Chrysler Group LLC.
The header on the cover of the October 2011 issue of Popular Hot Rodding reads as follows: "THE ' 70 BOSS TORINO FORD PROMISED, HEMI POWERED AFTER 41 YEARS"! "HEMI POWERED", huh;...like in capital/upper case "H", trademark registered HEMI®? That HEMI? So I parted with m...

NASCAR huh? Okay, I'll go there just to make the comparison. There are four engines in NASCAR. None of them have stock counterparts. They are not a succession of any factory production engine. These engines must adhere to certain guidelines; bore spacing, deck height, bore size, stroke, valve size, ...

Ford's 200th win
Ford celebrated their 200th win in T/F Funny Car via Mike Neff at the Route 66 Nationals in Chicago. On the NHRA site itself it mentions that this is the 200th win for "a Ford". Paul Page for NHRA spoke of Mike Neff being born in 1966, just one year before Ford started winning in Funny Car...

Compression pressure of 331 with 7.5:1 ratio is 135 psi minimum. Compression pressure of 331 with 8.5:1 ratio is 140 psi minimum. Re: 2010 AMSOIL Engine Masters Challenge
The illustrated HEMI is 417 cubic inches. It's undersquare at 3.950 x 4.250 bore and stroke. 11.3:1 compression. 700 horsepower @ 6500 rpm. 621 ft/lbs torque @ 5200 rpm. Top horsepower of the meet. Nice. I found the undersquare interesting as it reminds me of the 225 Chrysler slant six at 3.40 x 4.1...

oldngood. Chrysler has never even pretended to have invented the hemispherical head. Hemisphere means half of a sphere or half of a circle. How the hell do you invent half a circle? Chrysler did however, implement their own particular development of that geometry, given their research of the combust...

The noticably darker, or what you are calling the "black ring" is the scraper or wiper ring. It is the second ring on the piston. The shiny ring, or what you are calling the "white ring" is the moly-faced ring. It is the top ring on the piston. It is the compression ring. Both ri...

Depending on the sources of information there is a conflict leading to what I will call "cross nomenclature" concerning the 413/426 wedges. If for no other reason other than my own edification I decided to do some "digging"; and yeah, I know this thread is getting long in the too...
