Re: hemi-engine and trans
You need to post the numbers stamped into the pad on the front of engine,up by the distributor to verify exactly what you've got. But verifying exactly what car your engine came out of, even with these numbers will be difficult or impossible. Unlike GM, Chrysler didn't match the engine numbers to a ...

Re: Transmission?
I have acquired a 354 Hemi engine. Going to pick it up this week. It is a non industrial, short bellhousing block truck engine. It has a bellhousing attached with clutch pressure plate and flywheel. So, I have an A230 heavy duty Mopar three speed transmission. Does anyone know if it will bolt to th...

Re: Oil--- What type to use?
I like Shell Rotella-15W40 in all older, non-roller cam equipped engines. It's formulated for heavy-duty diesel engine use, so unlike most motor oils formulated for normal gasoline passenger-car engines, Rotella still contains zinc (ZDDP).

I like the adaptor from Q.E.C. & it uses the modern starter, found @ any parts store if your craps out. ------------------- Yep, for a daily driver, go with the " much cheaper and *available anywhere* " late-model style starter and sell your 'high-dollar' re-built original to someone ...

Re: 331 Marine Hemi
The factory specs show 8.2 to 1. That's nominal though and assuming the deck height, gasket thickness and cylinder head CC's are right on spec. With normal production tolerances, the actual compression ratio is likely anywhere from a half to a full point lower. mart =================================

Re: Restorer hopes to bring loudest siren to air show
In all the pics I've seen of those hemi-powered Victory air-raid sirens, I've noticed that they all ran dual upturned straight stacks off the manifolds. I guess mufflers on something like an air-raid siren would be truly superfluous! LOL!

Re: Engine Stand Worthy of a Hemi!
Nice job David! It'll look and work great when it's done! One question - do any of the casters have 'brakes' on them? If not, you might want to swap at least two of them out for a pair with wheels you can lock.

Re: Weiand mag front cover
I have no idea what it's actually worth to sell, but it sounds like it's very cool piece. The aluminum ones are fairly common and I think, still available new. But if it's magnesium, it's definitely an old-school "hardcore competition" piece from the good ol' days. mart ===================...

Re: Newbie
The 354 will be *marginally* easier to do and a better fit in an A-body than the 392. The 331-354's have a lower deck height and thus are just a bit narrower and about 40 to 50 lbs. lighter. It's definitely not a "bolt in" deal and will take some serious work, and fabrication skills - but ...

Chrysler industrial and marine hemis were only made in 331 & 354 c.i. models. The 392 c.i. hemis were only put in passenger cars in 1957 & 1958, they were never used in industrial or marine applications. ------------------ Ditto on that. No *factory* 392 truck, industrial or marine engines ...

Yes they do. Here is a picture of the Distributor unit. Apparently these were used in M-113? APV units. The video is great, but the sound quality is
AWFUL. Perhaps you should consider re-doing
it with with the background noise from original
sound track removed and then re-dub your
narration so that you can be clearly heard.
