Hi,
Hot Rod magazine did this a couple of years ago. But there's might have been a Dakota - my memory's a little blurred on the details. The biggest problem is the steering, exhaust and engine and gearbox mounts - expected stuff really !

Don't suppose anyone's got a copy of the feature in Mopar Collectors Guide we could (all) look at ?

Hi, Yep HR did do the feature in the early 80's. But Popular Hot Rodding also covered it fairly recently too - within 1 or 2 years anyway. Weirdly, one of the Mopar magazines, Mopar Muscle ?, ran a picture asking if anyone new what it was ........ Doh ! Has anyone any knowedge if the last picture (a...

Hi,
Are there any other numbers on the block ? The numbers you listed earlier don't tie up with any reference material I have. Try the Hot Heads hemi website. See if there's anything on that site.

Hi,
The "DPCD" isn't that relevent to decoding, other than it stood for "Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, De Soto", and was frequently found on items cast by/for MoPar.
I'll check out the numbers and get back to you.

Hi Steve,
Sounds cool !
Drop the 'site some pictures as you go along. I'm sure we'd all be interested to see the progress. If you're not sure how, send them direct to Scott, the 'sites mentor, and he can post them for you on this thread.
Good luck !

Hi LPGHemi, I'd try contacting some of the independent Dodge Ram importers here in the UK first. You can't be the only one with this problem. As Dodge (and Dodge Rams) are now officially imported into the UK as of last month, try Dodge UK too. I've been on their (Dodge UK) website before now, and al...

Nvella, You'll be lucky ! The book's about 100 or so pages long, costs about 15 to 20 bucks, and has been around since before the Internet. There's a similiar book that covers the tuning of small block engines (it's been around even longer ! so is quite dated - although still a good read). I think L...

Hi,
Regarding your questions, have you tried asking one of the Hemi-specialist shops directly ?
It's the sort of dilema/problem hey face most weeks, and as you've come across the problem with your engine, you can't be the first to do so.
See what you get off the website and then decide ......

Hi, The figures quoted earlier by "Moparlee" on from Hot Heads website are also in Tex Smith's Hemi book. The book doesn't state which (Hemi) heads the figures were obtained from in the book either. It does give comparison figures for "stock" (unported), and "street-ported&q...

Hi Nvella, The book I have with engine block information, Tex Smith's Hemi book, covers all the early Hemi's. There is no mention of a 273 Hemi in Tex's book. A 270 and 276 Hemi, Yes. But no 273. What make is your Hemi, ie; Dodge, Plymouth, De Soto, etc ? Is it by any chance a Polysphere ? I don't p...

Are there any other numbers on the block ? I ask cos those don't tie in with the information I have. The alpha-numeric coding should be three or four digits long. Occasionally five. If anyone else reads this, and can shed some light, I'd be grateful.

Hi,
Tex Smith's book covers this. The common firing order is 18-43-65-72. Quick question ? Is yours a 270 or 276 ? I can't find any reference in TS's book to a 273 Hemi ? Give me the block number, and I can check for you.
Good luck,

Hi, I don't have the Tex Smith book to hand, but I'm sure somewhere in there there's mention of someone doing a transmission conversion for the extended block engines. Hi Hemi4t, Do you have space for two of the existing V6 PCV valves in-line ? ie; one following the other with a small length of tubing inbetween, placed where the existing solitary 'valve is now ? This would give you time/chance to find an alternate, possible bigger PCV valve, whilst still being abl...

Hi,
All I know is that the new Hemi has a small-block bell-housing bolt-pattern, and as such, the SB-BH will bolt up. What I don't know is whether the transmission - automatic or manual - will allign torque convertor, pressure plate, or output shaft-wise. Anyone else know ?

Hi, In the July '06 edition of Hot Rod magazine, there's an editorial by David Freiburger calling for the "Big Three" to build the muscle cars of today with less of the (electronic) gizmo's and geegaw's that are becoming all too common. A la the Plymouth Road Runner of old ! Forget the DVD...
