Electronic Throttle Control Problem.

So this morning I start my truck (2004, Ram 1500 with the 5.7 of course) early to let it warm up a bit. I take my daughter to the neighbors and when I get back its idling kind of fast and the Electronic Throttle Control light is blinking. The engine then suddenly drops to about 400 rpm's, then back ...

Whining noise?

Ok, I've had my '04 Hemi Ram for about two years now problem free. Now though in the past week I've noticed that everytime I make a right hand turn it makes a whining noise. It gets better after its been driven for a while, but it only does it when I turn right. I checked the power steering fluid le...

Bottom Line on Duel exhaust

So overall, what is the best make and model of duel exhaust I can get for my 04 Ram? I'd like to keep the cost under $300, and yes, I'd be installing it myself.

Strange backup sound

As I was backing out my drive-way my 04 Ram made a strange sound. It sounded as if the brakes were sqeaking a bit, but my foot was completely off the brake peddle. Any clues?

I use pennzoil, 10W30 here in New York, the same stuff that saw both my parents cars to well over 100,000 miles without any engine troubles.

Windshield wipers

Ok, not exactly an engine related subject, but I need to to rant. I just baught brand new winter blades for my Ram, and today we had our first real freeze. Guess what, I had the exact same problem as with my old non-winter blades, either sjust smearing the mess, or not even touching it. Now, I know ...

I would never go over 3000 no mater what oil I was using. That said, I use Pennzoil, as its the same thing my father uses in my mother's 1992 camery which has never had an engine problem since the day they bought back in late 1991.

If you look underneath your truck you will see that it has two cats. Just take it to a muffler place you trust. Have them cut the exhaust behind the cats, weld in the new mufflers and tailpipes. Viola! You got TRU DUAL EXHUAST without a time machine!! I used this setup with my truck and I love it. ...

Re: OCTANE

I noticed that the manual calls for 89 octane, as well. "What difference does it make? Anyone know? My uncle has a 2000 Dodge Ram with the old 5.9L engine. His too calls for 89 but he has always used 87. He now has a knocking sound and it is suspected this is the result of using the lower grad...

I love my Ram

Some idiot in a Ford F-250 decided to race me from a traffic light to where the road shrinks down to a single lane. Now I have a Ram 1500 with a 5.7L engine. I'm not sure what he had other than it was an F-250. His was an extended cab, mine's a quad cab. At 2/3 throttle he was able to keep up with m...

What is considered red line for this engine

My Tach has no red line on it in my 2004 Hemi Ram. I was just wondering what the limit is, and just how hard I can push the engine.
