Hemi swap
I just got thru installing a 5.7 in a 2000 dakota and used the factory wiring harness. I didnt cut out anything because there is not much left after you hook everything up. I used the power module in thedakota for the relays and fuses and it all works great. I have not hooked up any gauges yet or a ...

cam centerline on crate hemi
Has anyone checked the cam centerline on their crate hemi? I have had a 426 and now a 472 and they both idle crappy and are stumbly off idle. I just got thru rebuilding an orig. 426 and used the same cam as the 426 crate and it runs twice as good as the crates. I setup the cam the way it said (108 c...

aftermarket carb jetting
I restored a pair of 66 hemi carbs a few months ago and checked the jets and metering rods in those but my edelbrocks run too lean with the same sizes but Ive came up with what works best for now. Thanks for the info though. If you should find the instructions on how to improve the intake let me kno...

Well as of now Im like most waiting on a replacement engine. Cummins called me after my dealer got me in touch with them AND THEY ARE GOING TO SEND ME A NEW MOTOR when the new foundry gets up and going. He said probably August or early September. He also said they would be test running them at least...

I have been told that some motors had the rocker arms tapping the valve covers. If you pull a cover you should be able to tell or I would think if they are the chrome type you could push on them and it should get louder. My 426 is that way but I have not checked it because they are replacing my moto...

I have been told by my dealer that they are going to send me a new motor as soon as they get some. They are setting up a new foundry and it may be August before they are available. They also said that Cummins was going to test run and dyno all the engines from now on. HUH. I guess they are finally g...

Of course I had already decided if they send me another motor I will probably tear it down and check out everything before it goes in the car! And I have let it be known I think that no more mopar business from my friends or myself till this is resolved. My son just bought a new ram diesel pickup a ...

At this time the dealer sent their service manager out to give mopar a estimate to repair but when he seen all the smoke coming out of the tailpipes he said no way! He couldnt believe they would sell a motor with all the flaws it has right out of the box. It leaked out the heads for him also. That w...

It is iron head hemi and I checked the head bolts cold and hot and they were fine. If it takes that long to break in I guess Ill have to wait and see. The car is auto so the rear seal will have to leak untill I see about the smoke. I have the plugs tightened down to specs and you think oil can still...

I thought I would let you know whats happen since I last posted. The car is just about ready for the road ,well it has been up and down my road a few times with me setting on a stool. It leaks a little antifreeze when its cold from the new head gasket and the motor still smokes like crazy and I know...

Aftermarket carb jetting?
I have a crate hemi with original intake that I have installed edelbrock 600cfm carbs. Does anyone know a good jet metering rod setup for these? I think its a little rich with the setup that came in them and I tried the .95 jets and thought it was lean. I was going to install the exact jets and rods...

If I had to do over with I would have stuck with the 440 that was in it and saved a lot of money or found an orig. hemi to build. I did look at some orig. hemis but for a couple thousand more I though wow I can buy a brand spanking new hemi. What a joke I guess Im just sc!#%%! I guess if it comes do...

What was all the hype about these things being better and stronger? I read before I bought it that Chrysler knew where it had weak points and made them all better.(HAHA) I started it up this morning and still can't believe all the noise in the valvetrain and now it looks like the rear main seal is s...

I know enough to build a hemi but when I bought this THING I was lead on to believe it was hand assembled by people who knew what they were doing! Now I have an expensive engine that I dont know if I can trust it or not. Im trying now to decide if I should pull it out and tear it down and check to s...

crate hemi problems
Yea Ive always had the same loyalty to them but when Ive had problems in the past they have taken care of them. If they would look at how many mopars are in my stable they may think twice! My family and relatives buy dodges on my advice. To me this engine was like buying say a Neon since it was almo...

crate hemi problems
Has anyone had any major problems with their 426 crate hemis made in 2001? I started mine up for the first time about amonth ago and after about five minutes oil seeped out of the head gasket. Cummins sent me a composite gasket to replace the steel and I have ran it about 30 minutes since and it see...
