331-354s are narrower than 392s. Around 1958 or 59 Gordon Potter put a stroked 392 with about 460 cubic inches into a 55 T-bird without to much problem. They had an article on the transplant in a 58-59 HOT ROD magazine article. Supposedly the bird ran in the 12s with the old bias tires of the day. I...

Yes, use the rods that came with your motor. Wrist pin size is the same in all chrysler 331-54-92s @.991" these motors develop a bunch of torque, I had a pickup with a 354/435-4spd and 2.76 rearend gears. I switched the rearend gears down to 3.23 and I think the truck was quicker accelerating w...

mrhp,10.5, 392 pistons make 9.5 compression ratio in a 354 (this is information from piston mfg, I think it was Keith Black). For the street, (unblown aplications) this should be a very good ratio. Your block would have to be bored approximately .062" to get to 392 std size of 4" I would n...

Marine block- Industrial block- Reverse rotation

Scott, The Marine/Industrial blocks were made from the same molds as the car blocks, but there was a difference. Chuck, Tell your informant that he is confused or senile in his old age, I think what really happened was, Chrysler made Fords first hemi heads, and they made so much power that Fords block & crank discintegrated, thus, the heads fell off the Ford!!!!!! :o He only Wishes that Ford had anything t...

301 DeSoto? Chrysler made a few 51 301 Firepowers. DeSoto made the 291 which was popular in most 300 cubic inch limit class racing, and could be bored right around 300-301C.I. The next size bigger DeSoto Hemi was the 330. Dean

Scott, chrysler industrial also included dodge hemis. what model ind. do you have. Some of the ind/marine engines were reverse rotation. I have succesfully installed several ind motors into late 50s pickups and they bolted right in. To use a manual transmission you need to pull the pilot bearing fro...

Ind 56

Krooser, I have approximately 20 , Ind 56 motors and 10 56A motors and about 5 392 motors , all have hydraulic cams, and water passages in the heads. The 331/Ind56 had a different style water pump than the 354/56A and the 392. the real early 331 car motors (and maybe the same years Ind) had the ther...
