I've personally never seen a Marine/Industrial 426 Hemi. I have toyed with a marine 426 Wedge which had the 8 bolt flywheel flange on the crank. Not sure whether this was done at the factory, or someone swapped a hemi crank in. This engine was definetly not a passenger car Mill, no exhaust crossover...

Like George said, the Timing set cover/water pump area is the only real catch. Hot Heads has a front cover that blocks the lower water passages, and allows you to mount a SB chevy pump. Alternately, a Chrysler LA timing cover (318/340/360) can be adapted to fit (lots of work though). Watch out for t...

Re: Mixed up history
Chrysler did a great deal of work with hemi head engines in WWII, but it wasn't until the early '50s that they applied their knowlege to automotive engines. This sounds pretty accurate As far as I have been able to research, Chrysler's first experience with a Hemi Engine was eliminating the reliabi...

Re: new castings ?!
While we are dreaming, a new front cover assembly would be nice. I have modified several LA covers for use on the Desoto and Chrysler but a new one would eliminate alot of machine work. I have also adapted the B-RB housing and like getting rid of the thermostat manifold, but again, alot of machine ...

Exhaust Mannifolds
Sorry, I don't have any manifolds. I'm looking for some, myself.
As it is, it looks like i'm gonna stick with the .040 overbore, and go with a near stock cam and 9.0 to 1 comp. ratio.
Thanks for the info, guys. Great site and good people!!!

56 354 in 65 Dodge Pickup
I'm putting a 354 hemi(.040 overbore) into my 65 pickup and am shooting for 300 hp with all the torque I can get.
