Re: Wanted: 3 inch stroke crankshaft for 331-354 chrysler !!
I believe you are going to discover what Gene Adams discovered back in the 1960s. Before Gene's astonishing nitro Desoto Jr. Fueler, he tried a destroked 354 (class rules mandated a 301 max, I believe). He gave up because he couldn't make enough compression, and that led to him exploring the smaller...

Re: Heads..which would you do?
Before history remembers the "Surfer" as some poor hicks who were successful inspite of their lack of knowledge, let me make one note. The Surfers were blessed with a real thinker in the fuel department. I can't remember his name, but he was the individual credited with coming up with &quo...

Re: Pushrod checking
Bigger valves should not be "of course longer". They should remain the same. Longer valves, even with shorter pushrods, throw off the rocker geometry. You can have all kinds of problems, such as the scuff pattern of the rocker's path across the valve tip. You might also find that the talle...

Re: 12-Pak Tunnel Ram fabrication
It gets expensive real quick, but using a Jerico belt drive distributor moves the distributor to a forward facing unit, clearing the intake manifold nicely. I will see if I have any photos which I could post. I discovered some years ago that vacuum secondaries are a challenge to get to work right on...

1963 426 blocks were "T" marked on the ID pad on the front valley cover rail. Max wedges would have an additional mark of "MP", and if a factory installed block in a lightweight car, the mark of "HC" would also be found. The only max wedges with an "HP" mark w...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
I have the 1st mock up photos to share. I have found some areas which will need to be addressed. The fastener holes for our early hemis are located close to the edge of the ports, so close that a ported head's ports come close to these holes. Because these Nascar manifolds have outward splayed ports...

Re: THREE AFBs?
Some time back, one of the many Mopar magazines published a photo of a 426 Hemi superstock cross-ram manifold with mounting pads for 4 (Four) AFB carbs. It was from the mid-60s, an engineering exercise, I recall. Must not have tested well, for I don't ever recall seeing any mention of the manifold e...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
I have included pictures of the cast tunnel ram offered by M&M competition engines for both the GM and Mopar (P7) nascar heads. I don't believe that the clamping forces required to attach the manifold to our hemis is so strong as to warp the adapter. Of course, real world tests would be necessar...

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
The adapter will have countersunk holes for machine capscrews to bolt the adapter to the heads. The manifold will bolt down to the heads to the already mounted adapter using the manifolds existing mounting holes for the manifold bolts. My intention is to use the Nascar manifolds without any machinin...

The mocked up wood adapter will give me the critical measurements to be used on CNCing the aluminum pieces.

Re: Tunnel rams for ported heads
This is the Nascar Mopar P7 single 4 bbl manifold. Note that it is the restrictor type (look inside the carb base).

Tunnel rams for ported heads
Hello everyone, I have returned my attention back to my ongoing building of an unblown 354 racing engine for my FE dragster. As has been discussed in an earlier thread about PAW's tunnel ram, all of the available manifolds for the 354-392 hemis seem to be small port designs, meaning that a serious m...

Re: Sealing girdle to block
After all of these Hemis sitting (Literally) for decades in my garage, now something is happening! My friend with the Girdle question is building a 671 blown 354. The reason I suggested using a girdle is that we intend to purchase a Bryant crank to build him a stroker motor. With the increased throw...

Sealing girdle to block
Hi, this is my 1st posting.... I am assisting a friend build up a 354 671 supercharged Hemi. At my suggestion, he is going to use one of my top fuel girdles I have had for years. He asked me a question that I thought maybe someone out here might have some thoughts on. His question was how effective ...
