Re: camshaft snout machining

Cut the snout portion off to the correct length, machine a collar to bring the snout back to the right diameter and cut a keyway. It is simple if you have a new style Mopar cam to copy. Good luck. Remember, a high deck cam will not work properly in a low deck engine, regardless of being reground. Pe...

SB2 on a Desoto

The SB2 should actually work better on a Desoto if you are careful when you cut the flange off. The SB2 is longer (15 3/8") than the Dodge (15")so I used a 3/4" flange to start the transition in size and location of the ports. Your ports are larger than the Dodge's and your flange is ...

Dodge hemi adjustable rockers

Duane,
What did you do with the intake rockers? Did they put the adjuster on the valve stem side?
How did you modify the rockers to use the standard covers?
Please let me know.

Dodge hemi adjustable rockers

Tom, If the rockers are angled to miss the tubes, is the configuration anything to be concerned about at high rpms? I shift at 6800rpm and would be concerned if the pushrods did not come straight up from the lifters. Also, having an adjuster screw on the valve stem doesn't seem to be a very good ide...

Spark plug tubes with adjustable rockers

I would like to know what the spark plug tubes look like on a Dodge hemi with adjustable rockers. All my non-adjustable intake rockers are machined to clear the spark plug tubes and I am curious to know how the factory handled this issue. I would like to convert to adjustables but think I may be ope...

1956 Dodge 270 poly engine

I am looking for a 1956 Dodge 270 poly engine, complete if possible but I would purchase a short block if necessary. It must be a 56 and a poly. I have low deck hemi parts to trade or I will purchase outright. Pickup in the north east preferred but not necessary.
Thanks,
Peter

315 hemi

Did you ever sell this engine?
If not, would you consider parting it out?
I would like to buy the heads and rockers.

300hp from a 241

300hp is very possible from your engine. Bore it to 270 specs, get some good head work done and an Isky cam and you'll have 300hp. I have this combination in a driver/race car and it produces 296 flywheel horsepower on the dyno. Call me if you need more info.

315 heads on low deck engine.

I run 315 heads on my 270 with no problems. I even run Isky adjustable pushrods which are a little larger in diameter than stock ones , and I have no clearance issues.

I only use four bolts per side. The others are in the middle of the runners. I had the flange machined perfectly flat and I run water with a conditioner and as of yet, I have no leaks. I also use allen head bolts and small diameter washers for clearance.

4V intake for low deck Dodge

I just finished an aluminium 4V intake for my 270 Dodge adapted from an SB2 Chevy intake. I fired it and drove it around last week and it works well on the street. I am taking it to Maxton in October and will do further testing there. Hopefully it will flow well. If it works, I would provide info on...

315 Hemi

You have the Holy Grail of Dodge Hemi engines: 315 with side mounts and adjustable rockers! Don't let anyone tell you it is not valuable and if you were not so far away I would offer to buy it from you now. The heads and rockers are worth a small fortune.

engine identification

I have a Dodge block with 30448 stamped on the front deck ahead of the valley cover and 1632229 cast into the block in the flywheel area and 1-230 stamped in the block near the distributor hole. I assume it is a 270 Hemi from a truck because of the remote oil filter. Can anyone confirm this, as I ca...

I have three 270 Hemis and one 270 poly that are, for the most part, disassembled. Dodge Hemi adjustable rockers

I am seriously looking for a set of adjustable rockers for a 241 through 325 Dodge hemi. I now use adjustable pushrods and I am tired of the grief involved in setting them. I have Dodge parts to partial trade or will purchase outright.

241 Pushrods

I have the pushrods that you need. I haven't ever measured them but if you need them I will sell them to you at whatever you think is reasonable, plus shipping. I don't have a use for them as they are only good for a stock cam. Let me know.
